Last year, Reebok generated huge buzz in the sneaker community by teaming with rapper, DJ and record producer Swizz Beatz to produce a line of street-inspired basketball sneakers. Swizz’s first offering as creative director for Reebok Classics sold out in 10 minutes.
Over the past several months, Swizz Beatz has revitalized the Kamikaze brand by infusing it with Hexalite sole technology for light comfort and street-smart colorways. Kamikazes are designed to attract attention both on the court and in the streets.
So what’s the latest news on one of the hottest shoes in the business?
In a great example of smart marketing and hot design, Swizz recently teamed with Miami’s Mr. R Sports to create the Reebok CL Kamikaze III R23, which features a mid top design for strong ankle support and a retro Florida Marlins-inspired black/teal/red colorway. The R23 has elicited rave reviews from critics, but don’t expect to get your hands on a pair unless you live in Miami. The shoe is sold exclusively at Mr. R. Sports in Miami Beach.
If you want to get into a Kamikaze III without taking your talents to South Beach, check out the two new colorways announced for December. Starting Dec. 1, shoe retailers around the country will receive the Reebok Kamikaze III Mid in gray/black/white and navy/blue/red/white colorways. Like previous releases, the shoe  will incorporate Hexalite technology and an upper made up of synthetic leather, patent leather, nylon mesh and durabuck.
