Vin Diesel Stars in ‘The Last Witch Hunter’
It’s shaping up as a big year for Vin Diesel. Furious 7 is on its way to theaters, and the action star also has a high-profile fantasy pic debuting, titled The Last Witch Hunter.
Set in modern day New York, the film follows Diesel’s character Kaulder, an immortal witch hunter, the last of his breed, who is forced to team up with his natural enemy, a female witch named Chloe, on a mission to prevent the city’s covens from unleashing a major attack on humanity. Kaulder and Chloe have their work cut out for them as they face the world’s most horrifying witches, led by the villainous Witch Queen (Julie Engelbrecht).
In addition to an imaginative plotline, the movie has an intriguing cast. Besides Diesel, who is also one of the film’s producers, it features Rose Leslie (Game of Thrones) as Chloe, Elijah Wood (The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey), Rena Owen (The Iron Man) and the legendary Michael Caine.
Directing this action-adventure is Breck Eisner, best known for the 2010 horror film The Crazies. The screenplay was written by Corey Goodman (Priest) and Melisa Wallack, who wrote the fantasy flick Mirror Mirror and the much-admired biographical drama, Dallas Buyers Club.
As for Diesel’s future projects, the iconic leading man is about to return to one of his most popular roles, Xander Cage, in the next installment of the xXx film franchise xXx: The Return of Xander Cage.
The Last Witch Hunter will charge into theaters nationwide on Oct. 23, just in time for Halloween.
