Horror Flick ‘The Pyramid’ Coming in December
In the upcoming horror thriller The Pyramid, archaeologists from the U.S. unearth an ancient pyramid from beneath the Egyptian desert. While they are exploring the depths of this amazing structure, the excavation turns into a claustrophobic’s worst nightmare as the team becomes lost in the dark and twisting catacombs. Deprived of sunlight and desperately searching for a way out, the archaeologists discover another reason to be terrified: they are being hunted.
Ashley Hinshaw of TV’s Gossip Girl will star in the movie, alongside James Buckley (Charlie Countryman) and True Blood’s Denis O’Hare. Another familiar face from the small screen is Daniel Amerman, known for several TV series, including Arrested Development.
Producing this picture, which was originally titled Site 146, is French filmmaker Alexandre Aja, who helped revolutionize modern horror flicks with movies like the 2006 remake of The Hills Have Eyes. In this new project, Aja re-joins The Hills Have Eyes writer Gregory Levasseur. Best known as a screenwriter, Levasseur is switching gears to helm The Pyramid for his directorial debut.
The accomplished Mark Canton, producer of 300, is co-producing the project with Chady Eli Mattar and Scott C. Silver.
The movie was written by Daniel Meersand and Nick Simon, who previously worked together on the 2010 thriller, Removal.
The Pyramid will hit theaters nationwide Dec. 5.
