Tom Brady Dreams of Being as Fast as Usain Bolt: ‘If I Could Just Run Away From Everybody, How Hard Would Football Be?’
Tom Brady is many things.
He’s an 11-time Pro Bowler. He’s a four-time Super Bowl champion. He’s a two-time NFL MVP.
But one thing Brady is not? He’s not fast.
Everyone remembers Brady’s brutally slow 5.28 40-Yard Dash from the 2000 NFL Draft Combine:

Unsurprisingly, Brady hasn’t gotten much faster since. He’s never posted more than 110 rushing yards in a season, and he hasn’t broken the 100-yard mark since 2011. Obviously, he has still been plenty successful, but can you imagine how nightmarishly difficult it would be to defend him if he also had legit rushing abilities?
Apparently, it’s something the quarterback himself thinks about all the time.
In a recent interview with NYMag.com, Brady shared his fantasy of being as fast as Usain Bolt.

“I’ve always been the slowest guy on the team, so I’d love to be like Usain Bolt. I’d love to be the fastest guy on the planet,” Brady said. “When I’m on the field, I sometimes think, ‘Man, if I could just run away from everybody, how hard would this game really be?’”
How hard would the game be? If Brady were as fast as Bolt, opposing teams probably wouldn’t bother to show up to the stadium. He already makes the game look easy, thanks to his ridiculous passing ability and brilliant football IQ. Adding game-breaking speed to his repertoire would just be cruel.
