Trailer: Aaron Paul in ‘Need for Speed’
In the latest trailer for Need for Speed, Aaron Paul has traded in the Toyota Tercel that got him out of tough spots on Breaking Bad for a souped-up 2014 Mustang.
As seen in the trailer, Paul plays a character named Tobey Marshal who is released from prison after serving time for manslaughter and goes on a mission to exact revenge on an enemy, portrayed by Dominic Cooper.
“I spent two years thinking about one moment. He set me up. He just left him there. That’s what I can’t forgive,” says Tobey in the clip.
Once Cooper’s character finds out about the plot, he devises a plan of his own and offers $6 million “to anyone who puts a stop” to Tobey. High-speed chases and explosive hijinks ensue.
Paul performed a number of the stunts himself to add realism to the movie.
“[Director Scott Waugh] made it very evident before I attached myself to this that he wanted me to be driving. He wanted all of the things, all of the action sequences to be practical. He didn’t want all of this to be done behind a computer after we shot it all. So he’s like, ‘You’re going to have to be behind the wheel and doing all these crazy races.’ I was like, ‘That’s fantastic! Let me do that!'”
Need for Speed, also starring Michael Keaton and rapper Kid Cudi, opens in theaters March 14, 2014.
