View with Your Crew: Zoolander 2 Coming Soon?
Looking for a great comedy to watch with your teammates and quote in the locker room? Put Zoolander 2 on your radar. Although rumors have been swirling for years about a sequel to the 2001 Ben Stiller hit, actors involved have recently confirmed that a script is done and Zoolander 2 may finally be coming.
Zoo 2—or Two-Lander, as Owen Wilson affectionately referred to the project while promoting his latest pic, The Big Year— will pick up 10 years after the conclusion of Zoo 1, when the male models are older and forgotten. Wilson said that his character, Hansel, falls on hard times after a disfiguring accident, yet he retains his winning confidence and optimism.
The original film showcased an eclectic cast of the famous and the fashionable. According to Wilson, Zoolander 2 will continue this trend, including the outlandish Lady Gaga.
The script, which was apparently completed in 2010, paves the way for the return of Will Ferrell as the villain Mugatu. Stiller has said that Ferrell has expressed interest in returning to the franchise; however, rumors have also pegged Moneyball‘s Jonah Hill as a possible villain.
What can we expect from Derek Zoolander and his “school for kids who can’t read good and other stuff” 10 years later? Fingers crossed for a really, really, REALLY ridiculously funny film.
