Russian President Vladimir Putin isn't just a dominant political figure. He's also a leader on the ice. This week in Sochi, site of the 2014 Winter Olympics, the 63-year-old former KGB officer helped his team to a 9-5 victory in a Russian hockey league exhibition game.
When Putin enters the game, the crowd erupts, clapping for the president, who two years ago scored six goals and tallied five assists during a similar exhibition game against former NHL players such as Pavel Bure.
This time, Putin scores a quick goal shortly after coming on the ice. At the end of the game, he hoists a trophy to celebrate the victory.
The opposing team clearly lets Putin score, but given his reputation as a hard liner in political and military affairs, who among his comrades on the ice would dare to block his shot?
