Will Forte Joins Comedy ‘Keanu’
Former Saturday Night Live castmate Will Forte is set to co-star with Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele in the upcoming big screen comedy Keanu. The storyline centers on two friends, played by Key and Peele, who pose as gangster drug dealers in an attempt to retrieve a stolen kitten. Forte portrays a low-level pot dealer who is obsessed with black culture, even though he only knows one black person, Peele’s character.
The cast also features Method Man (CSI) as a murderous drug lord who is convinced that Key and Peele’s characters are infamous gangsters. Starring in the role of Key’s wife is Gabrielle Union of TV’s Being Mary Jane and the Think Like a Man film franchise.
Peele wrote the screenplay with Key and Peele writer Alex Rubens. The show’s Peter Atencio directed the film.
After proving he can handle dramatic roles with his performance in the movie Nebraska, Forte is now considered a lead contender for an Emmy following the first season of series The Last Man on Earth. Later this year, he will be seen in the Adam Sandler comedy western The Ridiculous Six.
Keanu is scheduled to begin filming in New Orleans this summer. The movie will hit theaters April 22, 2016.
