Young Thug Talks Lil Wayne Relationship, Drake vs. Meek Mill
From the start of his meteoric rise in hip-hop, Young Thug named Lil Wayne as his biggest influence and called himself the Cash Money MC’s No. 1 fan. However, the two have collaborated on only one song, and now they’re in the middle of a tense standoff that doesn’t appear to be ending any yime soon.
During a recent interview with GQ, Thugga opened up about his relationship with Wayne, admitting things haven’t gone as well as he would have liked. “Of course it bothers me some, because that’s what I always wanted,” he said. “It was so weird: I always wanted to be in the studio with Wayne. I would tell Birdman to bring him over, but he never f***ing came.”
Bad vibes aside, Thugga denied any involvement in the shooting of Wayne’s tour buses in Atlanta, which has been linked to his tour manager. He added, “I feel like if he had the chance to be himself or me, he’d be me. If I had the chance to be myself or him, I’d be him. That man is the greatest. If we had the biggest problem in the world, I’d still say he’s the best rapper in the f***ing world. Everybody knows nobody raps better than the f***ing boss.”
He also succinctly wrapped up the beef between Drake and Meek Mill, saying, “Tough month for Drake, tough life for the other guy.”
