Make Healthy Eating Easier With These Items
When you’ve developed bad habits, change can be difficult. Embarking on a healthy lifestyle, like achieving your training goals, requires planning and effort. But over time, like with your weight room results, good nutrition can become part of your normal routine. Make this easier to achieve with the following items.
Water Bottle
Don’t settle for just any water bottle. Get a sturdy one that you’ll enjoy drinking out of. Make sure it does not leak and that it stays cold. Choose a big one, one that can help you hit your fluid intake goals each day. Sometimes drinking two big bottles of water is easier than eight regular-sized ones. The one I have holds 32 ounces. I bought it at a container store, and it fits easily into my work bag without leaking. (Read How to Beat the Number One Nutrition-Related Cause of Poor Performance.)
Crockpot
I’ve waxed poetic about my crockput several times, but I really cannot say enough good things about crockpot meals. They require little effort and are full of flavor without added fat, sodium, or sugar. Here are some of my favorite crockpot recipes.
Tupperware Containers
Making meals ahead of time requires dependable Tupperware containers. I also love this pyrex glass set I received as a wedding gift. It has different sizes and can go in the microwave and dishwasher.
Smoothie Cups
Smoothies are one of my favorite go-to breakfast items, since they’re easy to make and keep me full for hours. If you’re like me and crave sweets in the morning, smoothies are a great way to sneak in protein, healthy fats, fruits and even vegetables for your first meal of the day. The insulated smoothie cup (with straw) I received for Christmas has made my portable breakfast even easier. (Check out 3 Smoothie Recipes to Meet Your Nutrition Needs.)
Frozen Vegetables
Although fresh vegetables are ideal, it’s not always realistic to have them on hand throughout the week. Make sure you have a vegetable with every meal by stocking up on frozen bags.
Protein Bars
Although I always prefer real food, keeping protein bars in my home, desk and car makes it easy to have something healthy if I get hungry. Some of my favorites are Kind Bars,Think Thin Bars, and Luna Bars.
My iPhone
My iPhone makes my life easier in many ways, including healthy living. I keep a running grocery list in my phone, so when I have time to stop at the store, I know what I need for the week. I also use my card star app for coupons and discounts. There are a ton of workout apps and apps for logging your food intake. Here are some of the top rated health apps.
