Iowa’s Kicker Ran a Faster 40-Yard Dash Than 10 Wide Receivers and Most Quarterbacks at the NFL Combine
There’s a reason you don’t see many kickers at the NFL Combine. It’s because teams don’t really need to see how fast a kicker is, or how how many reps of the 225-pound Bench Press they can pound out. But that didn’t stop Iowa Hawkeye kicker Marshall Koehn from showing off his speed.

Koehn ran a 4.61 40-Yard Dash, which, according to NFL.com, was faster than all quarterbacks except Louisiana Tech QB Jeff Driskel (4.56), and faster than 10 wide receiver prospects. Granted, this was a slow class of wideouts, but Koehn’s time was still very impressive.
Kickers are athletes too, but Koehn’s 40 time had to be embarrassing to the wide receivers. Although kickers aren’t often picked in the Draft, this might help him get a spot on a roster. Teams might envision a way to use his speed on fake field goals. Whatever his reason for taking the 40 test, he definitely caught some attention.
#Iowa kicker Marshall Koehn tested like a WR. 6’1″, 197 lbs, 32 1/4″ arms, 9 1/2″ hands and a 4.6 40

That 4.6 40 by Iowa’s Marshall Koehn is the fastest time by a kicker in at least a decade.
