Gaming Update: PS Plus, ‘Plants vs. Zombies,’ ‘Quantum Break’
Last week, Sony revealed changes coming to PS Plus, EA announced plans to bring Plants vs. Zombies to PlayStation, and Remedy gave us a trailer for Quantum Break.
Sony Planning to Increase PS Plus Offerings in June
Sony announced a few changes to PS Plus. The premium subscription service will now allow gamers to access two free games via the Instant Game Collection for each console (PS4, PS3 and Vita). However, the titles will only be available for a month at a time, which is much shorter than the time limit for previous PS Plus games. Titles will release on the first Tuesday of each month. Previously, PS4 subscribers received one free game per month, but there was never an organized release schedule.
In June, PS4 gamers will be treated to Trine 2: Complete Story and PixelJunk Shooter Ultimate. The service offers three payment options: $49.99 per year, $17.99 per three months, and $9.99 per month.
Plants vs. Zombies Will Come to PS4 in August
Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare will be available for the PS3 and PS4 on Aug. 19, announced Popcap. Gamers can now pre-order the multi-player shooter. Pre-ordering will net you two digital card packs and customization content like Hat Packs. The title will support Vita Remote Play, so you’ll be able to switch from a console to the handheld without interruption.
“Our players have already vanquished more than 400 million plants and zombies, and we can’t wait for PlayStation gamers to add to this total,” said producer Brian Lindley.
The PS4 version will include Boss Mode, a feature previously exclusive to the Xbox One. Electronic Arts added microtransactions to the game in late April, allowing gamers to pick packs and content via purchased coins.
Quantum Break Gameplay Trailer Released
Remedy has released a 30-second trailer for their forthcoming game, Quantum Break. Check it out below!
The Xbox-exclusive will split action between the game itself and a live-action show. “The game is about heroes. The show is about villains,” explained creative director Sam Lake in a new video. “In the game, you play Jack Joyce in a desperate fight to stop the fracture that threatens to cause the end of time. In the show, in the style of an edgy modern TV series, you follow the schemes and power play inside Monarch, the corporation that’s Jack’s main enemy.”
Quantum Break is expected to hit shelves next year. A full trailer is expected to arrive in time for Gamescom in August, instead of at E3 later this month.
