Scholarship Season in Full Swing
Wednesday was opening day of NCAA Quiet Periods for football, basketball and baseball (view the blog post for more details).
But September 1 is perhaps more significant because it’s the first day prospects from the class of 2012 can receive written scholarship offers for football.
The folks at ESPNU highlighted the top players at each position for the 2012 class, and every one of the high school juniors featured on their Watch List received a handful of verbal offers well in advance of September 1.
“Now it’s all about early commitments and early enrollees,” writes ESPN Recruiting Insider Corey Long. “Programs are already evaluating and scrutinizing 2012 kids for potential offers and in many cases, formulating an outline for the 2013 class.”
Goes to show just how early coaching staffs begin to evaluate high school players.
For you underclassmen, pay close attention to the phrase “formulating an outline.” This means coaching staffs are in the process of drawing up their recruiting boards, and now is the ideal time for you to reach out to these coaches and recruiting coordinators.
Be on the lookout for the Back To School issue of STACK magazine to learn how to become a proactive prospect and maximize your recruiting potential. The issue is set to hit schools during the week of September 13.
