4-Foot-1 Senior Scores in Varsity Basketball Debut
Basketball is known for its tall players, but lack of height didn’t prevent 4-foot-1 high school senior Seth Kraft from living his hoop dreams.
Kraft’s basketball career began during his freshman year when he served as the Laurel High School (Montana) junior varsity team manager. During his sophomore and junior seasons, he managed the varsity team, and in his senior year, he became the varsity student-coach. He was the team’s go-to guy for game-time decisions.
Luckily for Kraft, his basketball savvy was backed up with skills, and he displayed them during Laurel’s final home game, the team’s Senior Night, which happened to fall on Kraft’s 18th birthday. As a gift to the dedicated team assistant, varsity coach Pat Hansen put Kraft in the Locomotives’ starting lineup.
The Laurel gymnasium was full of fans eager to see Kraft in uniform. And the young man did not disappoint. Within minutes, Kraft showed took a pass from the point guard, hung his defender on a pick and dribbled to the hoop for a lay-up. The crowd went wild!
