Gaming Update: ‘Terraria 2,’ ‘Arkham Origins,’ ‘State of Decay’
Last week, Re-Logic announced plans for a sequel to Terraria, WB promised to deliver with the Arkham Origins season pass, and Undead Labs reached a milestone with State of Decay.
Terraria 2 On Its Way
Developer Re-Logic has confirmed that a sequel is in the works for their successful adventure RPG, Terraria. The new game, which isn’t even in the development stage yet, will expand the scope of the first installment and give gamers more room to roam.
“I’m super excited about starting Terraria 2,” said creator Andrew Spinks to the U.K. gaming blog Rock, Paper, Shotgun. “It’s a ways out, but it’s gonna have a lot in common with the original. It’s gonna be quite different as well. I really want to expand on the whole Terraria universe. In Terraria 2, I really want to have infinite worlds so you’re not just stuck to one world. You can travel anywhere. I want more biome diversity in that, too. There’s a lot of stuff [I want to add and change].”
WB Responds to Arkham Origins Season Pass Backlash
When Warner Bros. unveiled the season pass for Batman: Arkham Origins, gamers were not impressed. Responding to complaints, the developer promised to make the pass worth the $20 price tag.
“There’s going to be a lot of value in that season pass,” producer Guillaume Voghel told IGN. “One of the items we can’t talk about yet. We’ll just wait for the gamers to really see what the entire package contains. It’s going to be a big deal.”
According to Voghel, although DC Studios has some input, WB will continue to keep the games separate from past and future movies involving Batman. He said, “The Arkham brand is really independent from the movies, and that’s something I think is at the core of its success; Rocksteady did that really well.”
State of Decay Reaches 1 Million Sold; DLC Coming This Month
Undead Labs announced that State of Decay has officially sold more than 1 million copies for PC and Xbox 360. “We are humbled by your continuing support and enthusiasm for the ideas,” the studio said in a statement.
In other news, the first expansion for the game will arrive later this month. The design team is currently working on small tweaks and ironing out bugs. Barring a catastrophe, it will come out just in time for Halloween. The Breakdown DLC will feature “freak” zombies, scarce resources and fewer modes of transportation than the original game. Also, the difficulty ramps up the longer a player stays alive, as zombies get stronger and faster, and resources deplete more quickly.
