Youngstown State Advances to the FCS Championship On This Absurd Last-Second, One-Handed Grab
One-handed catches have lost their luster since NFL and college wide receivers now provide them in abundance on a weekly basis, but what Youngstown State tight end Kevin Rader did on Saturday night was unlike anything we’ve ever seen.

With just six seconds remaining in their FCS semifinal matchup against 2nd seeded Eastern Washington, the Penguins had the ball at the 5-yard line down 38-34. Rader ran a slant toward the back of the end zone, draped by a linebacker throughout his entire route. With no other options and the clock nearing zero, Youngstown State quarterback Hunter Wells threw a rope in Rader’s direction, and Rader caught it with one hand—by pinning it against his defender’s back. Touchdown. Look at this dang catch!
Rader’s unreal grab sent the Penguins to the FCS Championship game next Saturday against James Madison. The degree of difficulty plus the enormity of the moment make it one of the best catches we’ve ever seen.
