High School Senior Breaks State Record With 700-Pound Bench Press

No big deal. Just a 700-pound Bench Press by a high school kid!

Matthew Poursoltani of Pilot Point High School in Texas shattered his own 650-pound record, benching 700 pounds last Saturday. His state record stands across all divisions and weight classses

"I knew my body could handle it. I knew I could bench it," Poursoltani said. "It was all I wanted and I really wanted it bad."

Reportedly, the top bench press in the NFL is 705 pounds, by former Dallas Cowboys star Larry Allen.

At the state weightlifting meet last year, Poursoltani benched 570 pounds, so he increased his bench by over 100 pounds in a year. Starting his day with six eggs for breakfast, Poursoltani is now gunning for the world record.
