'Team Ninja Warrior' in Development for Esquire Network

'Team Ninja Warrior' is an updated version of 'American Ninja Warrior' coming to TV.

Team Ninja Warrior, a spin-off of the popular show American Ninja Warrior, is in the works for the Esquire Network. The project will offer a fresh take on the long-running competition series, but producers of the original show will be onboard to produce the spinoff.

One significant twist is that the ninjas will form teams and race head-to-head on what is being described as "the world's toughest obstacle course." The final match of each episode will challenge competitors with a new level of pressure consisting of a relay element for a sprint to the finish.

TNW joins several other unscripted series being developed for the network. The lineup also includes an untitled sports-themed docuseries executive produced by LeBron James, along with a remake of the award-winning Educating Britain called Educating America and another spinoff called Friday Night Tykes: Western PA, about the famously football-oriented Beaver County, home of Joe Namath and Mike Ditka.
