44-Year-Old Jaromir Jagr Posts Early Morning Workout Photo, Has No Regard for Daylight Saving Time
He turns back the clock for Daylight Saving Time.
No, this isn’t an ad for the “Most Interesting Man in the World,” but Jaromir Jagr is certainly a candidate for the most fascinating player in the game as he continues to defy Father Time in his 22nd NHL season.
“You know that if you want to be better than the opponent, you have to work [train] when he’s asleep. All rivals – good night. :))))”
What a legend.
It’s no secret that Jagr is fanatical with his strength and conditioning regimen.
As Peters reports, Jagr has been known to return to the ice after games to skate off any remaining energy, sometimes while wearing a weight vest. He walks around the Panthers complex with five-pound ankle weights and shoots eight-pound medicine balls against the walls.
Jagr recently told the Sun Sentinel, “The more I rest, the worse I feel.”
Last week, Jagr passed Gordie Howe to move into third place on the NHL’s all-time scoring list with 1,851 career points. Howe was 51 years old when he hung up his skates—he recorded 41 points in 80 games during his final NHL season!
Jagr is four years older than any other current NHL player. Heck, he’s older than the combined age of his linemates, Aleksander Barkov (20) and Jonathan Huberdeau (22).
Some folks figured Jagr was on borrowed time. But based on his work ethic and the level of his play this season, Jagr seems poised to spring forward for many more NHL seasons to come.
