Watch the New ‘Fantastic Four’ Trailer
Fox dropped a full-length trailer for Fantastic Four last weekend. Check it out below.
The clip showcases the fantastic foursome putting their newfound powers to work and gives us our first look at their archnemesis, Doctor Doom. It even delves into how they acquired their powers in the first place. Based on the trailer, the group was formed by Johnny and Sue Storm’s father, Dr. Storm, and with Miles Teller’s Reed Richards at the forefront, they seemingly made leaps in interdimensional travel.
“Dr. Storm, we gave you six years and millions of dollars, and you gave us nothing. What’s different now?” questions a board of disappointed 1-percenters.
“Reed Richards,” he replies. “He knows the answers to questions we don’t even know to ask yet.”
For awhile, things seem to go well for Mister Fantastic (Teller), the Invisible Woman (Kate Mara), the Human Torch (Michael B. Jordan) and even the Thing (Jamie Bell). But Doctor Doom soon challenges their resolve to use their powers to help others. The hooded bad guy looks better than he did in 2005, when Tim Story had the reins. He doesn’t really look in touch with his Latverian roots, but maybe they’ll touch on that more in the film.
During an interview with Collider, Toby Kebbell, who portrays the villain, revealed he’d even go by a different name. He said, “He’s Victor Domashev, not Victor von Doom in our story. And I’m sure I’ll be sent to jail for telling you that. The Doom is ours—I’m a programmer. Very anti-social programmer. And on blogging sites, I’m ‘Doom.'”
According to reports, director Josh Trank pulled from the Ultimate Fantastic Four series for the reboot, so Doom may not be the only alteration.
Fantastic Four will hit theaters on Aug. 7.
