‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales’ Finally Gets a Release Date
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales finally has a release date. The fifth installment of this blockbuster Disney franchise is set to premiere July 7, 2017, two years later than originally planned and six years after On Stranger Tides. The lengthy delay is due in part to the fact that the script has taken longer to complete than the studio anticipated.
Johnny Depp, who will reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow, will reportedly be joined by returning cast members Geoffrey Rush, Keith Richards and Jack Davenport. Rumors suggest that acclaimed Austrian actor Christoph Waltz, whose résumé includes Django Unchained and Inglourious Basterds, will be joining the cast.
Jeff Nathanson, best known for Catch Me If You Can and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, will write the screenplay, and Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg will both direct.
