STACK is proud to partner with yoga instructor Rebecca Pacheco on a new series, Yoga for Athletes. Each installment in the series will feature an instructional video with Pacheco performing a yoga workout and describing its benefits for athletes.
Regardless of your skill level, yoga can help you prevent injury and improve your mental edge. Before we get started, let’s meet our yogi.
Pacheco has worked with Olympic, professional and amateur athletes. No stranger to sports, she competed as a top-ranked hurdler in high school, played Division I field hockey in college and ran the Boston Marathon. Pacheco has been a yogi for more than half her life and a teacher for the past 12 years.
Pacheco’s website, OmGal.com, was voted Best Yoga & Fitness Site at the 2010 Intent Web Awards; and she has been featured in national ad campaigns for Reebok, Ryka, Ibex and New Balance.
According to Australian Olympic swimmer Matthew Targett, Pacheco’s yoga instruction “complements any athlete’s training. It builds strength, aids recovery and calms one’s mind in a focused and fun way. I regularly use her yoga videos while I am on the road competing.”
