New York Islanders defenseman Thomas Hickey hit Tampa Bay Lightning left wing Jonathan Drouin so hard Tuesday night, Hickey couldn't even be mad at him.
"I looked at the hit after, and it appears it was a clean hit," Drouin said after the game, per ESPN.com's Joe McDonald. "He read what I was doing, and I have nothing against him."
Though Drouin said the hit was clean, Hickey knocked him hard to the ice. The Lightning won Game 3 5-4, taking a 2-1 series lead.
This hit came after Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Kris Letang laid a devastating hit on Washington Capitals player Marcus Johannsson on Monday night. Letang was dealt a one-game suspension for delivering a high hit that made head contact.
