STACK Gets an Inside Look at Ironman Chris McCormack's Training

June 9, 2011

Chris McCormack Training

Today, the STACK Team is following Chris “Macca” McCormack through a training session at Crunch Fitness in New York City. Recently dubbed the “World’s Best Athlete” by Forbes, Macca is a dominant force on the Ironman circuit. He has won more Ironman races than any other athlete and was twice crowned champion of the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii.

If you unfamiliar with the Ironman, it’s a 2.4-mile ocean swim followed by a 112-mile bike ride and finished with a 26.2-mile marathon run. You have to be an incredible athlete just to finish an Ironman, never mind be the best.

STACK recently spoke with Macca about his accomplishments and the mindset he uses to battle through a grueling race. “Pain is like emotions—they go high and low, and that pain is temporary,” McCormack says. “You just have to fight through that storm by focusing on things you can control.”
