Subway Enlists Justin Tuck to Honor Military Heroes at Exclusive Premiere of "Battleship"
Subway teamed up with director Peter Berg to provide an exclusive screening of his new film, Battleship, aboard the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum complex in NYC earlier this week. New York Giants DE and Subway famous fan Justin Tuck hosted the event for alumni of the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP), a non-profit organization providing special programs and services for injured members of the military.
Battleship star and director of the Army’s Wounded Warrior Program (AW2), U.S. Army Col. Gregory Gadson helped arrange the event. Gadson lost both legs to an Iraqui roadside bomb five years ago. Making his acting debut in Battleship, he has been an inspiration for the Giants since 2007, when he was introduced by his former Army teammate, then quarterbacks coach Mike Sullivan (now with the Tampa Bays Buccaneers).
In the film, NASA sends out signals to another planet, theoretically similar to earth. Years later, the planet responds, and a fleet of U.S. Navy battleships must deploy against alien vessels threatening to destroy our world.
The film’s authenticity on the seas is thanks in part to input from the Navy. “The U.S. military played a significant role in the making of Battleship,” said Subway senior VP Tony Pace. Berg also acknowledged the cooperation of the Navy and Defense departments.
Battleship also stars Taylor Kitsch (of “Friday Night Lights” and John Carter), model/actress Brooklyn Decker and pop singer Rihanna. It arrives in theaters this Friday, May 18.
When you head out to this film, stop at Subway first. The company is sponsoring a “Zero In To Win” contest for a chance to win $100,000.
