Happy Election Day! The results are in—for Week 9 Battle of the Brands fantasy football action, that is. Perform your STACK civic duty and check out our recap of this past week's action.
Cam Newton outdueled Robert Griffin III on Sunday both on the field and in the fantasy land of the Battle of the Brands. Newton led all Team Under Armour scorers with 24 points, while RGIII scored just 14 points for the second straight week. The win moved Team UA above .500 and into second place, while Team adidas suffered its third consecutive loss.
We highlighted the week's favorable matchups at running back and wide receiver for Team Nike and Team Reebok, respectively; and those matchups were ultimately where this game was won. Reebok wide receivers Brandon Marshall, Roddy White and Reggie Wayne (flex) made the most of their advantageous match-ups by scoring a combined 79 points. Conversely, Nike running backs Ray Rice, LeSean McCoy and Marshawn Lynch (flex) failed to capitalize on the moment, scoring a meager 57 points as a group.
3. Peyton Manning, Team Reebok
Manning has recorded 25-plus points in his last six starts
2. Cam Newton, Team Under Armour
Newton scored two TDs—one in the air and one on the ground
1. Brandon Marshall, Team Reebok
Marshall went off for 3 TDs and 122 receiving yards to lead the league this week with 39 fantasy points
