Get Sick Handles Like John Wall

December 1, 2012 | Featured in the Holiday 2012 Issue

Point guards must have solid ball handling skills to avoid costly turnovers when dribbling through traffic and slashing to the bucket. This season, improve your court control with Washington Wizards PG John Wall’s Two-Ball Dribbling Drill. Once you master control over two balls in practice, you’ll dominate the court with one ball on game day.

John Wall’s Two-Ball Dribbling Drill

With knees slightly bent, dribble two balls at same time, varying the patterns and positions for 30 seconds each:

  • Dribble balls at the same time below knees
  • Dribble balls in alternating fashion below knees
  • Dribble balls at the same time above knees
  • Dribble balls in alternating fashion above knees

Sets/Duration: When performing this drill, go for a total of 30 minutes of dribbling

Coaching Points: Do not look at ball // Keep head up with eyes focused straight ahead// Increase dribble speed as comfort level increases
