The San Francisco 49ers and Baltimore Ravens will suit up in Nike Elite 51 uniforms for the Super Bowl this Sunday.
When the Elite 51 uniform debuted last April, it was heralded as the next generation of lightweight performance gear by Nike. One directive guided every move designers made when creating the Elite 51: improve everything that helps an athlete perform and eliminate everything that isn't necessary. The lightweight, versatile design helps players maximize range of motion and increase speed.
The Ravens will wear their white "away" jerseys with black pants, and the 49ers will be outfitted in their red home jerseys and gold pants. Although the jerseys are virtually the same as the ones the teams wore during the regular season, both feature a special Super Bowl XLVII Patch.
The Elite 51 uniforms also feature lightweight technology, like Flywire and Zoned Mesh Ventilation. BaseLayer and Deflex padding will provide protection in the "hit zone" between the knees and shoulders.
Nike-sponsored athletes on each team will be sporting Alpha Pro Cleats and Vapor Fly gloves for the big game. The cleats feature a bladed base for excellent traction and quick cuts, and the gloves use Nike's new Magnigrip material to help players get a better grip on the ball—and on each other.
