The 8 Worst NFL Injuries Suffered Before the Season Even Started

NFL teams have a few goals entering pre-season: Determine a clear winner of all training camp position battles; improve as a team; and, for the love of all that is holy, avoid injuries.

For a player, there's nothing worse than getting hurt during a pre-season game or practice. You may have hurdled that defender and coaxed some jaw drops from the overly excited crowd, but the six points you put up on the scoreboard matter about as much as the final score of a kindergarten basketball game.

Football is inherently a violent game, and injuries are impossible to escape. Here are the worst NFL injuries that happened in the pre-season, judged on either the severity of the injury to the player or the impact it had on the team.
