Tips for Preparing Healthy Meals From Iron Chef Michael Symon

One of the biggest obstacles to proper nutrition for athletes is actually knowing how to prepare healthy meals.

Meals that you simply throw in the microwave (like boxed dinners) are quick and convenient; however, they may actually inhibit your ability to perform at a peak level during a training session, practice or game. Why? Because of their high levels of sodium, fat and other game-wrecking ingredients.

In the video above, Iron Chef Michael Symon talks about the importance of taking time to prepare easy-to-cook foods to eat at home and at school.

At home, Symon recommends roasting a chicken, which can then be refrigerated and used in different meals throughout the week. For meals during school, he suggests sticking with traditional sandwiches and snacks, but focusing on healthy options—such as fruit, organic peanut butter and whole wheat bread.
