Axon helps athletes "train above the neck," which means improving their pattern recognition, anticipation, reaction time and focus—attributes that can spell the difference between success and failure in the split-second-decision-filled world of sports. Cuban's Mavericks are an Axon client; and Axon serves professional and top collegiate football and baseball programs.

Sada said Cuban's investment shows that their technology, and cognitive training in general, is gaining traction in athlete and performance circles. He added, "Mark's investment in Axon Sports is also validating as the Mavericks continue to be a valued client and an early adopter of disruptive technologies. According to the company, funding from Cuban and his co-investors in this round will help Axon further refine its technology and expand its reach. Currently, Axon's programs can be accessed at eight elite training lab locations and through individualized iPad applications. They are also accessible at select STACK Velocity Sports Performance centers.
