NHL Rookie (With 50 Pounds of Gear) Beats Olympic Speed Skater in Race

Nathan MacKinnon's speed kills.

We can all expect greatness from Nathan MacKinnon, forward for the Colorado Avalanche, first overall NHL draft pick in 2013, and NHL Rookie of The Year in 2014.

In the video below, released by CCM hockey, MacKinnon faces off against three-time Canadian Olympic gold medalist and two-time world champion speed skater Charles Hamelin, for the fastest five strides.

MacKinnon is in full hockey gear and CCM Tacks skates. Hamelin wears a skin-tight suit. Watch MacKinnon accelerate like no other.

It's all about the skates.
