‘GTA V’: New Screenshots, More Info and a Leak
Sept. 17 is almost here. Can you tell? Information on GTA V is pouring in from every direction! New screenshots popped up last week, we got more information about the game’s Special and Collector’s Editions, and of course there were more leaks.
The spoilers came from overeager gamers who extracted audio files from a download sent to pre-order customers from Sony’s European PlayStation store. Rockstar released a statement following the incident, saying they were “deeply disappointed,” and Sony offered an apology for the misstep and removed the file.
“We sincerely apologize to Rockstar and GTA fans across the world who were exposed to the spoiler content,” reads Sony’s apology. “GTA V is one of the most highly anticipated games of the year with a very passionate following, and we’re looking forward to a historic launch on Sept. 17.”
Rockstar also announced that two premium editions of GTA V will give gamers additional weapons, which can be customized with skins and attachments. Both editions will also include new outfits and tattoos for the protagonists. The Collector’s edition offers gamers the ability to create a customized character playable on GTA Online, along with an exclusive garage for custom vehicles, which will come stocked with a CarbonRS sports bike and 1930s-style hot rod.
No word yet on when, or even whether, GTA V will come to next-generation consoles. Sony nearly set off another storm of controversy when it appeared to confirm the game for PS4 on Twitter this week. The company quickly retracted the statement: “Apologies for the typo about GTA V. It’s due for release on PS3 on Sept. 17,” reads the latest tweet on the account.
