Three Reasons to Pick Up Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception
With today’s launch of Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, gamers can finally get their hands on the latest version of one of the best PS3 franchises ever. The phenomenally-reviewed Uncharted 2 left fans tingling with anticipation for the third installment of Nathan Drake’s treasure hunting and third-person shooting swagger. Today, at long last, Uncharted 3 is out on shelves.
Here are three reasons why this game is a must-have:
It Looks Like a Movie—No, Really
You often hear that a game looks like a movie, but of course it’s not always true. For Uncharted 3, however, it’s 100-percent spot-on. The camera whips around seamlessly during gameplay, creating the kinds of shots you’d expect to see in a thriller like Indiana Jones. As you’re hanging off a ledge or walking down a street, you suddenly see your perspective change. It’s incredibly well done and gets you deeply immersed in the action. Uncharted 3 truly feels like you’re playing through a movie.
Deep Gameplay
Uncharted is a third-person shooter, but it contains aspects of a brawler as well as of an environmental puzzle-game. It combines the best features of games like Tomb Raider, Legend of Zelda and Gears of War 3, all in one package. With a new environmental brawling mechanic, you can use what’s around you in close-quarter combat. Several times in the early stages of the story, you may think you’re watching a cut scene—until you realize you’re controlling Drake’s every move.
Beefed-Up Multiplayer
The first Uncharted didn’t even have multiplayer, and the second delivered a mode that was underplayed. But Uncharted 3 makes multiplayer a priority. You can exercise options to customize your multiplayer character and earn medal bonuses that reward you with new weapons. Most gamers pick up Uncharted for the single-player mode, but this year’s version finally provides a solid multiplayer option.
The game retails for $59.99 and is available at gamestop.com.
