Air Force Academy’s New Football Helmets, Inspire by WW2 Fighter Plane, Are the Best
When the Air Force Academy football team takes the field on Sept. 10 against Georgia State, they’ll be wearing some of the coolest helmets we’ve ever seen. Inspired by a World War II fleet of fighter planes called “Flying Tigers,” a group made up of both Chinese and American pilots, the silver helmets feature an eye and shark’s teeth painted on either side, just as it was on the planes.
