Is Kentucky the Frontrunner for Andrew Wiggins?
Canada’s Andrew Wiggins, the number one ranked high school hoops prospect in the country, still hasn’t officially announced where he’s going to play in college, but hints are starting to flow in. Multiple media outlets have Wiggins’ wish list consisting of Kentucky, North Carolina, Kansas and Florida State (FSU is his parents alma mater).
On Monday, Jeff Goodman of CBS Sports announced that Wiggins had abruptly cancelled in-home visits with all of those schools except Kentucky, fueling speculation that he has decided to join the Wildcats as part of what is already one of the greatest recruiting classes in recent history.
We caught up with Wiggins last week after practice for the Jordan Brand Classic in New York City. When we asked him what it’s like showcasing his game against some of most talented players in the country (like Andrew and Aaron Harrison and Julius Randle, all of whom are committed to Kentucky), he referred to them as guys who could be his teammates in the future. This raised a few eyebrows. Listen to his full answer in the video above. All signs are pointing to Kentucky as the frontrunner for Wiggins’ services next season.
