The supernatural thriller Before I Wake stars Kate Bosworth (Still Alice) and Thomas Jane (The Expanse) as Jessie and Mark, a couple who adopt an 8-year-old boy named Cody. They come to find out that Cody is plagued with a terrible fear of falling asleep. But this is no ordinary childhood phobia. Jesse and Mark assume the issue stems from Cody’s unstable background. But the truth behind what occurs while he is sleeping is more complex and more horrifying than anything they could have anticipated.

Starring as Cody is Jacob Tremblay (The Smurfs 2). The cast also features Dash Mihok (Silver Linings Playbook), Annabeth Gish (Sons of Anarchy), Lance Nichols (Left Behind), Courtney Bell (Oculus) and Jay Karnes of TV’s Gang Related.

The film was written and directed by Mike Flanagan, best known for another supernatural horror movie, last year’s Oculus. The screenplay was co-written by Flanagan’s Oculus writing partner Jeff Howard.

Before I Wake heads to theaters nationwide on May 8.
