‘Blood Brothers’ Adaptation Will Star Michael B. Jordan
Michael B. Jordan (Fantastic Four) will take the lead in an upcoming feature film adaptation of the Dark Horse comic book Blood Brothers. Written by Mike Gagerman and Andrew Waller, with art by Evan Shaner, the comic centers on two wild vampire buddies, on the verge of parting ways, who must put their differences aside long enough to save the world by preventing a villain from carrying out his plot to end humanity.
The graphic novel was actually based on a screenplay by Etan Cohen, who is best known for writing action comedies Men in Black 3 and Tropic Thunder.
Comicbook.com recently quoted a statement made by Andrew Waller when Dark Horse bought the series in 2013: “Our goal with Blood Brothers was to create a comic with the feel of a classic buddy action comedy, like Lethal Weapon or Rush Hour, but with two vampires as the heroes. It’s really a story about two regular guys, who just happen to be vampires. They’ve treated the last millennium like a thousand-year bender, but now find themselves having to save humanity just to keep the party going.”
Jordan is no stranger to big screen comic book adaptations, although he first made a name for himself on the small screen with The Wire, Friday Night Lights and Parenthood. He successfully transitioned to feature films in 2013 with the critically acclaimed biographical drama Fruitvale Station, and he has already signed on for the sequel to the newly released Fantastic Four.
Blood Brothers will be produced by MGM and Dark Horse Entertainment.
