“Crysis 3” Multiplayer Beta Open Now
On Tuesday, the multiplayer beta for Crysis 3 opened up to gamers on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. It will remain active until Feb. 12.
The beta offers two game modes, Hunter and Crash Site. In Hunter Mode, a team of two “Hunters” seek out an opposing team of up to 14 troopers. With each kill, a trooper re-spawns on the hunter side. If any troopers survive the match, the hunters lose. This mode offers everything from teamwork to suspenseful “last man standing” scenarios.
Crash Site Mode is essentially King of the Hill, with opposing teams vying for control of a randomly placed alien pod. On each map, there’s a Pinger, a giant, destructive mech that players can comandeer to turn the tide of battle.
The two available beta maps are the ruins of a Manhattan museum and an abandoned airport overrun by nature. Players can customize their experience and level up to 10 ranks.
More information about the beta is available on the game’s official site.
The Crysis franchise made a name for itself with beautiful graphics and the state-of-the-art CryEngine 3 physics engine. The first two games received solid Metacritic ratings of 81 out of 100 and 85 out of 100, an aggregate score reflecting mostly positive professional reviews.
Crysis 3 is set to drop on Feb. 19 for Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. A Deluxe Edition that includes unlocked weapons, extra content, and other goodies will be availble for $80.
