Hugh Jackman Stars in Fantasy Adventure 'Pan'

A new treatment of the Peter Pan story flies into theaters this summer with the tagline "Every legend has a beginning."

The upcoming fantasy adventure film Pan, the latest big screen adaptation of the popular Peter Pan story, features a star-studded cast that includes Hugh Jackman as Blackbeard the Pirate. Check out the official teaser trailer, below.

The live-action picture tells the story of an orphan who travels to the famed Neverland, where he finds his share of fun and danger and eventually discovers his destiny as a hero. There have been many interpretations of the classic Peter Pan tale over the years, but this movie focuses on the character's origin, exploring the backstory of the careless but enviable boy who can fly and who never grows up. As the tagline of the film says, "Every legend has a beginning."

Starring in the title role is Australian actor Levi Miller, who is a new face to American audiences. His most recent work includes the award-winning short Great Adventures. Playing the role of Mary is Amanda Seyfried (A Million Ways to Die in the West). Rooney Mara (The Social Network) plays Tiger Lily. Kurt Egyiawan (Skyfall) is cast as Murray. Unbroken's Garrett Hedlund will play Hook.

The film was directed by Joe Wright, who is best known for the 2007 feature film mystery Atonement. Using characters created by J.M. Barrie, the screenplay was written by Jason Fuchs (Ice Age: Continental Drift). Fuchs is also currently working on the screenplay for the highly anticipated Wonder Woman film.

Pan will be released in 2D, 3D and IMAX 3D and opens in theaters nationwide on July 24.
