‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ Teaser Coming Soon
MTV has released a teaser for their forthcoming trailer for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. (Watch it on MTV.com) The network will premiere the entire two-and-a-half minute trailer during the MTV Movie Awards, scheduled for April 14.
In the short clip, co-victors Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) have arrived at District 11 on their victory tour with Effie Trinket (Elizabeth Banks). Before the 20-second video ends, Katniss manages one of her trademark forced smiles.
Catching Fire will reportedly find the heroine sensing unrest among the citizens of the Panem District. But she isn’t allowed to dwell on it too long, as the Capitol has announced plans to pit previous years’ victors against each other for the 75th Annual Hunger Games. She and Peeta are forced back into the arena and once again must fight to survive.
Like its predecessor, the film will be based on the popular Hunger Games trilogy by author Suzanne Collins. The second of four planned movies, it will be produced by Nina Jacobson. Francis Lawrence will direct. Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Lenny Kravitz, Stanley Tucci and Donald Sutherland will all reprise their roles.
The Hunger Games (2102) was a massive box office success, grossing more than $686 million worldwide. It was also a critical success. All signs point to the sequel following suit.
Chasing Fire will reach theaters on November 22. If the promise of a proper teaser isn’t enough to entice you to watch the MTV Movie Awards, the trailer will also be available via hungergamesexplorer.com following the show.
