Natalie Portman Stars in ‘Jane Got a Gun’
Natalie Portman will star in the western drama Jane Got a Gun, playing Jane Hammond, a woman whose determination to save her outlaw husband from a gang intent on killing him prompts her to seek help from an ex-lover she hasn’t seen in 10 years.
The film also stars Noah Emmerich (The Americas) as her husband Bill, Joel Edgerton (Zero Dark Thirty) as her ex-lover Dan, and Ewan McGregor (A Million Ways to Die in the West) as the gang leader Colin.
Portman has previously appeared in historical pictures, such as 2008’s The Other Boleyn Girl, but this is her first western.
The movie was directed by Gavin O’Connor, best known for TV movies like Only Human, the TV series The Americans and the 2011 sports drama Warrior.
The screenplay was written by newcomer Brian Duffield, who also wrote the Shailene Woodley sci-fi adventure film Insurgent, set to debut next year.
Originally scheduled for release in June 2014, Jane Got a Gun was pushed back and is now is expected to hit theaters nationwide on Feb. 20, 2015.
