Justin Blackmon Becomes Second Athlete to Join "Team Ghost"
To promote the upcoming release of Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, available for Xbox and PS3 on May 22, Ubisoft has enlisted four celebrity gamers to form “Team Ghost.” Two members of “Team Ghost” have been announced, and they’re both elite athletes: NBA All-Star and Minnesota Timberwolves power forward Kevin Love and, most recently, Jacksonville Jaguars first-round NFL Draft pick Justin Blackmon.
Blackmon is only the second wide receiver in history to win the Biletnikoff Award, given to the nation’s top collegiate wideout, two years in a row. After the Jags traded up to pick him, he was selected fifth overall in the NFL Draft. Blackmon is a gamer, and he’s looking forward to the release of Ghost Recon as well as to his rookie season in the NFL.
Ghost Recon: Future Soldier is a third-person tactical shooter game that’s more realistic and strategic than others in the genre. The game incorporates technology inspired by actual military projects, such as invisibility cloaking. And there’s a strong focus on teamwork, with individual members of the squad performing different tasks.
“I’m really excited to be a part of Team Ghost,” Blackmon said in a Ubisoft release. “My role on the team is similar to the one I play on the football field. I’ll be quick off the line, get to where I need to be in a hurry, and more often than not, I’ll be the first one at the rally point after a successful mission.”
