During the most recent Nintendo Direct broadcast, the release window for Kirby and the Rainbow Curse was announced for February 2015. The latest WiiU action/adventure game features colorful clay animation. Up to four players can play as Waddle Dees to help Kirby make his way through the various stages.
Players control Kirby with the stylus used to draw on the touch screen of the GamePad. When players draw lines on the screen, colorful clay ropes appear on-screen that allow Kirby to move around.
By tapping him with the stylus, players can control Kirby and guide him as he overcomes obstacles and enemies. In this edition, Kirby has a number of special powers and transformations, including the ability to swim underwater and transform into a rocket, tank or submarine.
In addition to appearing in his own game, Kirby is a controllable Amiibo figure. Compatible WiiU games for the Kirby Amiibo figure include Hyrule Warriors, Super Smash Brothers and Mario Kart 8.
Kirby has starred in over 20 Nintendo games over the years. He made his first appearance in the Game Boy title Kirby’s Dream Land in 1992. The round, pink character is known for his cheerful, positive attitude and his bravery in battle. Kirby often gains special powers when he swallows objects and foes and then takes on their attributes.
Kirby and the Rainbow Curse can currently be pre-ordered for $59.99.
