WATCH: Kobe Bryant Gets His Disclocated Finger Popped Back into Place, Fan’s Reaction is Priceless
Kobe Bryant is a stone-cold badass. When the future Hall-of-Famer tore his achilles tendon in 2013, he stayed on the court to shoot two free throws before casually walking over to the Lakers’ medical staff. Although he is a few years older and currently on an NBA farewell tour this season, Kobe’s mental toughness and ability to deal with pain have not lessened one bit.
During the action against the San Antonio Spurs last night, Kobe dislocated his right middle finger hustling for a loose ball. This painful and grotesque-looking injury often puts a player out of action for a good chunk of time, but with Kobe that is not the case. After noticing the injury, he grasps his hand tightly and walks directly to longtime Lakers trainer Gary Vitti. After Kobe explains the problem, Vitti grips the middle finger, gives it a solid yank [yes, that is the medical term] and pops the knuckle back into place. Cured, Kobe walks back onto the court and into the game as if he’d taken a quick break to tie his shoe.
The best part of this whole scene, besides Kobe’s ridiculous toughness? Check out the woman sitting courtside who witnessed the incident. She clearly doesn’t like what she sees out of the corner of her eye, and the popping sound causes her to cover her ears and seemingly throw up in her mouth. You can watch it all in the video below.
