Jamie Foxx Reveals That Martin Scorsese Will Direct His Mike Tyson Biopic
Jamie Foxx has announced that iconic director Martin Scorsese will direct him as Mike Tyson in an upcoming feature film biopic. The popular actor made the announcement on New York’s Power 105 radio show, “The Breakfast Club.”
“I just went into Paramount with Mike Tyson,” Foxx said. “So, I’m going to do the Mike Tyson story. Listen, to be in the same room pitching Mike Tyson to Paramount, Mike Tyson is on one side, I’m on the other side and doing Mike Tyson at the same time. And Martin Scorsese at the helm. This will be the first boxing movie that Martin Scorsese has done since Raging Bull.”
There has been speculation that Scorsese would board the project since last summer, when Tyson mentioned the Oscar Award-winning filmmaker’a potential involvement to IGN. At the time, “Iron Mike” also revealed that they were planning to use the same technology that was used in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button to help Foxx portray Tyson at every stage of his career.
Scorsese is reteaming with Terrence Winter, who wrote the screenplay for this untitled film. The two previously worked together on The Wolf of Wall Street and the HBO series Boardwalk Empire.
