When you think about the University of Nebraska football team, you think of a team steeped in history, one of those ground-and-pound teams that reduces opponents to dust under the sneering visage of head coach Tom Osborne.
Well, those days are long gone.
From experimenting with the spread offense under quarterback Taylor Martinez to announcing slick new uniforms, Nebraska has officially entered the 21st Century.
The Cornhuskers recently unveiled pictures of the “Husker Bold” alternate uniforms they will rock in their homecoming game against Northwestern on Oct. 24. Designed by adidas, the uniforms feature black jerseys and pants, metallic red numbers on the front and back of the jerseys, and red stripes on the shoulders and pant legs. Nebraska’s iconic logo, the enlarged “N”, is featured in red on the pants. Gray hues can be seen throughout the jerseys.
