Nike Honors Kobe Bryant’s Final Season With the Black Mamba Pack
There are only 13 games left in Kobe Bryant’s final NBA season (which is a fairly depressing sentence to write). Regardless of your personal feelings about the man, it will be weird watching the NBA, and the Los Angeles Lakers specifically, without Kobe staring daggers at anyone who dares to guard him.
Like Michael Jordan, though, Kobe’s legacy will live on long after he’s gone, and part of that legacy will be his shoes. Kobe has 11 signature kicks with Nike, a line that will continue after he retires and one that fans have been begging Nike to retro for years. At the end of 2013, Nike dropped the “Prelude Pack,” a series of eight Kobe kicks that celebrated signature moments in his career.
Now Nike is upping the ante.
The Beast of Beaverton just announced the Black Mamba Pack, 13 kicks, beginning with the Huarache 2k4, the shoe Kobe wore before he got an official signature shoe, that will be released in succession leading up to Bryant’s final game on April 13. The shoes darken from white to black, culminating with an all-black Kobe XI with a golden swoosh. Each of the 13 shoe boxes will feature GPS coordinates for one of 13 cities that Bryant holds dear.
Beginning March 22, each shoe will be available in limited quantities around the globe.
