Ride for a Cause with Motocross Champion Ryan Dungey
Ever dream of training with a champion professional motocross racer?
If you’re in or around Woodbury, Minnesota on July 15, you can do just that while supporting a great cause at the MN Major River-to-River Ride with Ryan Dungey. Featuring Dungey and sponsored by Target and LIVESTRONG, the ride will benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Every penny of the $50 registration fee will go directly to funding research to find cures for children battling cancer and other deadly diseases.
“Everybody’s got a bike. All you have to do is grab it and join us,” says Dungey, who regularly incorporates cycling into his cross-training program.
Dungey is passionate not only about his racing (he’s won every title in professional motocross), but also about using his fame to help raise money for cancer research. He’s actually dedicated his career to cancer research, in memory of his late grandmother, who lost her battle with cancer in 2005.
“I came up with the idea of River-to-River because my grandmother’s passing had a big impact on my life and career,” says Dungey, “I try to help support this cause, whether it’s with awareness, positioning or patients. St. Jude’s is a place where my heart is and something I’m truly passionate about.”
River-to-River will include bicycle rides of various lengths and for all skill levels, including a “Major” 62-miler and a “Minor” 25-miler along the St. Croix and Mississippi Rivers. Starting at Bielenberg Sports Center in Woodbury, bikers will follow a route through the St. Croix and Mississippi River valleys.
