Shawn Oakman Just Got Drafted By The XFL
Earlier today, the Los Angeles Wildcats selected Shawn Oakman in the XFL Draft.
On paper, it seems like a perfect fit.
At 6-foot-8, 280 pounds, the former Baylor defensive end would fit right in alongside the behemoth athletes of XFL owner Vince McMahon’s other venture—the WWE.
Oakman was once projected to be a first-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, but a sexual assault charge spiraled his stock. After a long and arduous court process, he was finally found not guilty earlier this year. He’d worked a variety of odd jobs over the past three years, but his dreams of pro football never left. After being exonerated in February, Oakman drew interest from several NFL teams, but went unsigned.
Yet he continued to train in hopes of getting a shot. An Instagram post from August shows Oakman looking as muscular as ever:

Oakman earned third-team All-America honors from the Associated Press his junior season at Baylor and still holds the school’s records for sacks in a season (11) and a career (17.5).
